Ida Mae (Meyer) Ricketts October 19, 1923 - May 19, 2024 MATTOON - Ida Mae (Meyer) Ricketts, age 100, formerly of Mattoon, IL, passed away on May 19, 2024, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born October 19, 1923, in Mattoon, IL, to the late Herman Henry and Grace (Moore) Meyer. In 1945, she completed her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in 1956 at the University of Illinois. After graduation, she taught for one year at Mahomet High School in Mahomet, IL (1945-1946). She them relocated to Effingham, IL, where she taught for six years at Effingham High School (1946-1952) and 15 years at Champaign Senior High School in Champaign, IL, (1952-1967). In 1964, she married Luther W. Ricketts. They then relocated to Fort Wayne in 1967, to land herself at Snider High School for 22 years of teaching business and retired in 1989.
