MATTOON - George W. Gilmore, 95, of St. Johns, Fla., passed away Wednesday (July 24, 2024) at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek in St. Johns.Funeral services honoring his life will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial with military rites will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.George was born on Oct. 29, 1928, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Clarence and Clara Gilmore. He married Donna Louise Wortman on Oct. 22, 1949. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 2016.He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jenny Downs.Survivors include his daughter, Jeri Gilmore; son, David (Kathy); granddaughters, Cara (Marshall) Reinhart and Lindsay (Mack) Wagner; grandson, Davis Gilmore; and great-grandchildren, Colton and Madeline Reinhart.George joined the U.S. Air Force as a young man and married the love of his life, Donna, i
